Is it true that for most colleges (including HYPSMC) that once your scores on the SAT (Subject tests in particular) reach 750+, your good?

I.E. 750 = 800

Is it true that for most colleges (including HYPSMC) that once your scores on the SAT (Subject tests in particular) reach 750+, your good?

I.E. 750 = 800

I would say for most subject tests, 750+ is definitely good enough for HYMPSC. However, for the math ii test, 750 will not be treated as equal to 800 because of the generous curve given.

No. That’s analogous to saying that once you’re past the top 10%, your rank is good for HYPSMC, or once your GPA is above 95, it’s essentially the same as an 100.

After 750 (or whatever arbitrary cutoff people are claiming), the score will not negatively impact your admission decision. That does not mean a higher score is not better.

FYI, I got:

760 Chemistry
800 Math II
(and probably looking at 750+ Physics)

I agree with this. I think an admissions representative from MIT said that test scores aren’t useful after a certain point, which seems to be 750.

GreedIsGood, you’re good with your scores!

GoldOwl is correct that 800 is the goal for math 2. Because you hit that magic number, look at your score report, and you will see why. Your percentile rank will be 88 or 89 per cent.

For all of the rest, see the MIT admission blog post Harambee references for the proposition you do not need to retake to improve after a certain point:
[MIT Admissions | Blog Entry: “What’s the big deal about 40^2?”](http://www.mitadmissions.org/topics/apply/standardized_test_requirements/whats_the_big_deal_about_402.shtml)

You guys do realize that there are people who get in to HYPSMCPBSXYZFGT withou a 750+ in everything. 750+ or any specific score is not required. And I would not call someone who has 750+ good and others bad. These are just scores and don’t mean much in life.

MIT says 700+ is good for them.

Misinformed dumbass.
