I got an invitation to this Honor Society and I was wondering if anyone could tell me more about it? Any benefits for joining? Is it highly recognized on campus?

Thanks for any input!

who invited you?

I got the invitation through webmail, from a Dr. Glenn Butler?

never heard of it

This is a legitimate honor society that you can choose to get involved with or just join as an honor to list on your resume. Golden Key does appear on your transcript, so that is a bonus!

any honor society is a load of BS even if it is legit

There are many bogus honor societies just looking for money, and the UF Honors webpage has some information on identifying those.

Golden Key is a recognized honor society at UF, and there are many opportunities to be involved if you are interested.
This is the link for the UF chapter of Golden Key:

Phi Beta Kappa is prestigious. Most, if not all, schools know about PBK. Golden key is a good resume filler, but once you get stuff like fellowships, internships, and publications, then that will out weigh golden.

Do you think Golden Key is worth the $70? I'm thinking about it...

I got the same invitation. Hell I might just sign up for it to see if I can get some scholarships...couldn't hurt, and it is a legit thing on campus since it has it's own campus webpage and all.
