Passage 2: (A table with a bunch of stuff on finding what bat you have based on characteristics.)

Time it took: 3’ 44’’ 09’

Experience: It was definitely overwhelming, because there was so much in the table it was hard to focus on the certain species of bat the question asked for. This passage was only tables.

Passage 3: Graphs on temperature rising WRT time.

Time it took: 5:56:35 (Yikes! Almost 6 minutes)!

Experience: Graphs and question were quite easy, but they threw in some big words, and it made me want to see if it was mentioned in the passage, it wasn’t there. (Wasted a little time here.) Those big words that they throw in the in the questions are distractors.

Note: Guys I just wanted to say the “Time it took” for passage 4, 3 and maybe 2 are are less then the number I typed. I subtracted the wrong time whew!

Right now I am on the last passage with about 12 minutes 44 seconds and 58 milliseconds left! Wow that’s definitely a lot from what I normally get!

After using the technique of “ONLY LOOKING AT THE GRAPHS AND TABLES (Except for the arguing scientist passage” I raised my score from a 22 to a 31. I don’t know if this was luck or just true work. I will obviously take more tests and try to maximize my scores and tweak my tips.

Crossing my fingers that this was not luck!!

My last practice ACT test scores:
Composite: 27.5 (28)
English: 29
Math: 32
Reading: 27
Science: 22

This practice ACT test scores:
Composite: 32.5 (33)
English: 32
Math: 35
Reading:32
Science: 31

I am really hoping this was my work and not luck!

@SpitPhire To be honest all I did for the math section was basically taking a lot of practice math sections. Set some time aside and do as many math sections as possible and then go over mistakes. Do as many as you can. Trust me I began to see improvement just after one test! The more you do the better!

Okay guys so I just started the 2nd test in “Princeton Review’s Cracking the ACT 2012”.
I am going to time my self and see how much time do I have on each section and how much time I spend on each section.

Passage 1:
My time: 4:40:03
Max time possible: 9:0:0 (45 minutes/5 passages)
Total time: 4:40:03

@SpitPhire Haha I guess I am, and yes is it english! The watch really helps, but my watch is digital so it makes a beep sound when I press the button so I don’t think the test proctors will allow that :/

I did the usual review grammar rules and did a lot of practice English sections, but I also bought a digital watch and that helps me understand how much time I need to spend on each section. (This seems to really help and gives me a lot of time at the end!) If I understand the main idea of the passage I usually go from question to question skipping all those sentences in between them.

I have a question regarding your reading strategy: When you say read the passages in a different order, how did you decide that order? I’ve seen that suggestion before, but I can’t really seem to re-order the passages. I’ve tried doing it by difficulty, but it doesn’t work well for me because the difficulty of a passage varies from test to test (for me).

Reading ACT 36, I’ve been introduced to the “SCIeNCE” method of completing the science section of the ACT. This strategy involves reading the passages. For those who are familiar with this method, how does it compare to the method GoldenMonkeySAT previously used (not reading the passages)?
