2009</a> Goldwater Scholars</p>
<p>The 2009 Goldwater Scholars have just been announced. These scholarships are awarded to undergraduates in engineering, mathematics and the sciences. Goldwater Scholars have often later won Rhodes, Marshalls and other prestigious awards.</p>
<p>Princeton leads the nation in Goldwater Scholars since the founding of the program with Harvard just a few behind. Schools may nominate up to four undergraduates for the scholarship and while Princeton has normally had four scholars, this year it had just two. Six schools were awarded four this year. Eighteen had three and forty-nine (including Princeton) had two. All of the Ivies were represented this year with the exception of Brown and Penn:</p>

<p>2---Dartmouth, Harvard, Princeton, Yale</p>
<p>Congratulations to Cornell, the only Ivy to have four scholars this year! MIT and Northwestern also had four along with Calvin College, the U. of Minnesota and the U. of North Texas.</p>
<p>Princetons two winners are:</p>
<p>Thomas Kneelan, a physics major and Adam Hesterberg a math major. Both wish to do research after getting their Ph.D.s.</p>
