Hey guys -
I submitted all my materials by regular mail, and my mom isn't happy with me because she thinks that I should have sent everything (meaning teacher recs, application fees etc) by certified mail.
Has anyone had problems with IMPORTANT mail-gone-missing by the old 42Cents method??

Also, how do I find out if colleges have received various components of my application? I get e-mail verification for things I submit via internet, but what about snail mail stuff?

it does happen, but usually you can just call n check at the school or they post it online or even send u back emails to your yahoo, gmail w/e accounts

The post office might on very rare occasion lose stuff, but the far more likely ocurrence is that the school's admissions office will lose stuff. They are handling tens of thousands of files, and stuff gets lost. You'll have your certified mail receipt proving that they got it, but you'll be resending something anyway because the school can't find it.

actually yea they notify you if youre missing something.

the deadlines are really only there to scare you into sending everything on time so they dont have to go through the hassle of notifying people that their stuff is missing.

i mean, you pay a fee to apply...theyre not gonna dump your app just because youre missing something without telling you first.
