"Gone To Texas" is Tuesday night; Will be webcast

The annual "Gone To Texas" event is on Tuesday night at 8:30 p.m. This is always held the evening before classes start. There are a number of welcome events that afternoon and early evening, but head over and see it. The marching band will play. The tower will be lit. APO will drop down the Texas flag.

A great "welcome to the start of the school year" event.
(Fun for parents to watch on line. The live webcast starts at 8:15)

That is so cool I will be able to watch it online! I’ll probably cry, though.

It is very cool. I love the marching band. D can’t fly down til late Sunday night so I am coming down to get her stuff out of storage and move her into her new place M and T; I should get to see GTT in person. The first year ('08) I watched it on line but I was on campus last year ('09). I ended up sitting with a small group of moms back by the fountain - we weren’t up close but we could see everything. Anyone else going to be near campus then? (Parents I mean - I know all of the students will be there!) If I get to go, I’ll be the ordinary looking mom talking to a tall blond daughter with APO (the kids in jeans and white cowboy shirts dealing with the giant flag of Texas, pulleys, ropes, etc.) after the program ends. :)

If you’re a freshman, definitely go! It’s the first big event to put you in the school spirit and it’s really really cool.
