Gonna get a D in AP physics...help

guys, im worried that i'm going to get a D in AP physics. points pretty much are finished as of this week, and we just watch movies after the AP. should i report this to UCLA??? is my admission going to be rescinded?

You have to report it because they will see your transcript later (you have to send it to them)

what are the chances of getting rescinded?

from what i understand, not very much. You will likely be requested to take a physics class this summer or be put on academic probation for a few quarters when you ge to UCLA (you will need to keep a certain GPA).

uh oh- i dont have much advice but...

my friend emailed the school saying that theres a great prob that she will end up w/ 3 C's in very challenging classes- they replied saying that instead of the usual 3.0 minimum and no C's, they upped the bar for her and said that she must pull a 3.2 GPA with absolutely no C's at all

make of that what you will

it was so unfortunate for her- why would UCLA do that to people?

i was until the impression that students can get C's, just no D's.

Yes, please do tell where the no C's requirement came from.

icarus, where did u learn that from?

you could easily get kicked out...you better contact them and sort things out as soon as possible...

I call BS becuase that would technically be illegal since their contract says otherwise. That said they could kick you out, but likely youll have to take a summer course to remake the grade within ABC limt.

Whoops
it is NO D's- not C's
my apologies

i mean, after ive already registered, done housing, etc....they KNOW they'd be screwing me over for life. perhaps they'd transfer me to a less prestigious sister campus at worst?

they have no heart. it's a cold, cold world.

wait.. i thought that starting with the class of 06, the gpa requirement for the uc's was raised. so maybe it is 3.2.

it doesn't specify..that's the thing.

it just says an unweighted B average.

in college, thatd be higher than a 3.0......3.0 is a B-

did anyone get the specific admissions contract? please help.

Anecdotal evidence ain't good enough for me. If someone can provide a link to an official news source that says the UC's GPA requirement is now 3.2, then maybe I'll start listening. Otherwise, rumors just create unnecessary stress and worry.

mariopuzo, I'm pretty sure they consider your senior classes part of high school, not college. If that's the case, then they would count a B as a 3.0, nothing higher or lower, because that's how they calculated our UCGPAs for the rest of high school.

Above all, the fact that they are so consistently ambiguous about this suggests to me that they aren't really intending to rescind many admissions, no matter what happens. They just want to make sure students don't slack. But I get the feeling that UCLA won't be rescinding most applications, especially those with at least a 3.0. So it should not be an issue for most people, except that the D in Physics may be a problem.

(Try talking to your teacher about it; find out if he/she can help you out a little bit.)

My Teacher Changed It To A C!!!!! Wooooooooo!!!

:D congrats, hope that helps the stress
