Ok...so I have been offered a single in a suite in Dillard...does anyone know how the living conditions are in Dillard...how are the suites? Is it really far away...is it isolated...is it nice...anyone please answer this question...globalist or virginiaalumn...help!

When you enter the complex, to be frank, it looks like a prison. It has these two fairly tall towers (not that tall though) at its entrance. The complex as a whole is not well lit. There are a lot of trees there so it looks like a forrest, however two or three minutes of walking and you can easily see the rest of the University. There is a bus stop nearby. However, there are a lot of stairs from the bus stop / rest of the University to Dillard (get used to climbing stairs).

Good things: -Runk Dining Hall is maybe a minute or two walk.
-Great place for studying as it is quite

Bad things: -Don't expect that many parties there
-Very isolated from the rest of the University
- You have to take the bus to get to Central Grounds

The rooms and suites: Very small room - better than Hereford though. No personal fridge / microwave - however, suite has one. Living room area is a joke. Bathroom - I think 2 sinks, 1 toilet, 1 shower for 6 people. Suites have an upstair (4 rooms) and downstairs (2 rooms and bathroom and living room). I don't think there is AC. The rooms are not well lit - you need to bring a lamp.

If you have any specific questions, please let me know.

oh wow..thanks soo much, that was really helpful, so do I absolutely need to take a bus to central grounds, gosh I thought I could just walk there oh and the suite is like a little house with an upstairs and a downstairs? Thanks! ohh and have you had any friends that have absolutely hate it and why?

No problem. Unless you like walking about 15 - 20 minutes to class everyday (assuming you are in the College of Arts and Sciences) one way, it is best to take the bus. It does have an upstairs and downstairs, but I wouldn't call it a house. Dillard is ONE large building. I believe there are four total floors. The bottom two floors make up one suite. The top two make up the other. There are about 10 suites next to each other on each pair of floors. See

for a picture. Notice there are 4 sets of windows when you look at the building from top to bottom - Each set is a floor. Two sets make up a suite. The top two windows are two of the rooms on the top floor. The bottom two windows are the living room windows.

Some of my friends didn't like it because it is far from Rugby Road (frat houses), the Corner (eating place), and the rest of the University. Others liked it because of its quite atmosphere. Also, Scott Stadium (football games) is maybe a five minute walk.

Sorry, there is AC.

thanks soo much for your help!
