good 7/9 yr med programs?

hi
my first choice would be to go to a school with a combined 7/8 year med program, but i don't know which programs are really good besides the one at Brown, any advice?

thanks!

Brown
Northwestern
Rice-Baylor

The only programs with prestigious undergrad and medical school.

There’s really no point in attending a prestigious undergrad if you’re guaranteed acceptance into a prestigious med school. So, I consider programs like Case or UCR/UCLA to be top notch as well.

Although some don’t like WashU’s program because of its 3.8/36 requirement, it is still a sizable advantage. WashU Med sees tons of 3.8/36 regular applicants. Most of them don’t get accepted.

ummmm…what about REMS at University of Rochester!
Rochester is a more highly rated med school than brown i think. Plus i think that prestigious doesn’t really matter for these types of programs.
but anyways. rochester is a good undergrad too…not ivie or top 20 but still good

I’m not sure how accurate the stats are on the second one, so you should always check the actual college/university’s website.

If you can even get into Brown PLME or Northwestern HPME…you should sets your sights even higher. For real, as competitive as those programs are, your better off just getting into better medical schools and clinching those residency programs at top specialty ranked hospitals.

There’s also UCSD’s program, but I believe that’s by invitation only.

The thing about a few of the 7 year programs is that you DO have the option of applying to other medical schools should you find that the one you have been accepted to is not what you want. You should look into that, as you really would have nothing to lose if that be the case.

first of all thanks to every1 that replied…now i have a few more schools to look at

norcalguy: wat do u mean by WashU’s 3.8/36 requirement? i mean im guessing the 3.8 is the gpa requirement but wat’s the 36?

aquamarinee: so wat ur saying is that in some of the 7 yr programs u can do the 3 yrs of undergrad at that school n then switch to another med school? they really let u do that? do u have ne examples of schools like that?

^ 36 is the required minimum score with the MCAT, test required for med school.

Of course, if you can get a 3.8/36, you are pretty much guaranteed to get into at least 1 med school.

Don’t be lazy, do your own research.

WashU’s GPA/MCAT requirements are so high that the program is not worth it compared to other guaranteed programs or low requirement programs.
