I know a 28 isn't good to most of you but it's great to me. I'm also applying to go to UW Madison and this is a good enough score for it. The thing is though my writing score is terrible! I got a 6! The first time I took it I got an 8 on writing.. but only 23 composite. I am not planning to take the ACT again.. I hope. Do you think they will really care if my writing score is so low? My English score was the highest I had a 30.

someone please say something

I got a 28 also. I think it is a score of a smart student as it is in the 91st percentile. I would retest and focus on the writing section. Do it! Well, if you have time…
I may not retake the ACT because I want to rock the SAT instead. Dude, do what you feel… No one can determine success for you! If you are content with your score and it meets the requirements of your desired college, then go with it. If you want to have a more impressive score, retest.

hey don’t worry too much man, I feel ya. my first ACT was a high composite, but a 6 essay too. honestly it has been said that school don’t value the writing sections as much as the other sections, so don’t sweat your essay. they certainly won’t hold it against you.

however, if you made that 5 point composite jump in less than a year, a 30 composite is not out of reach, and wouldn’t take much ridiculous studying. yeah, I know madtown doesn’t have a very high average, but if you break 30, various opportunities may open up for you.

I really wanna boost my essay, so that’s what I’ll be doing this summer. sigh

Maybe writing a kickass application essay will compensate for it.
I gotta 12 my first time out this June. All I did was spew a bunch of ******** about perspectives. But being serious, I did try to further my main point throughout the essay.
To others seeking advice, always ask yourself two questions before including something in your essay: “Does this make me look smart?” and “Does this complement my thesis?”.
