Okay so I have a 33 composite, but i got a 8/12 on the writing!

I have a 2160 SAT (730M, 720CR, 710W)..

I also took the ACT again and got a 32 and 9/12 on the writing.

Will colleges take the better of my writing score? Will having a 8 or a 9 hurt my chances? Should I not submit my ACT at all and only send my mediocre SAT? And I plan on early action... if i want to take the SAT again, will I be able to see my score before it gets sent?

Most schools require but put little emphasis on the writing, basically because it simply tests your ability to write a very fast essay on a "high school" topic.

Also keep in mind that getting a 10 on the ACT essay puts you in the 97th percentile. Only 3% of test-takers who opt for ACT-Writing pull off a 12.

If I were you, I would send both test scores as it shows consistency and an ability to do well. By no means are your scores "mediocre". They are clearly in range of strong schools if you also have an acceptable gpa and extracurriculars, along with a well-written essay.

No need to fret - you have what the admission officers are looking for. Just find a way to show yourself off as the real, interesting, unique YOU who loves to learn and loves a particular interest. Make them like you. You will do fine.
