Good ACT scores, bad SAT scores. How will this affect admission?

Hi everyone!

Currently I am studying for the ACT and am expecting a score of 32-33.

My highest ACT score as of right now is a 31, but my SAT score is 1280. Will my SAT score still hurt my chances of admission at top schools, regardless of the fact that I have a significantly higher ACT? I have great ec’s and essays, but will the low SAT even with the high ACT keep me locked out?

Thanks so much for the input.

Only send the ACT if that is the better score.

Yeah, you don’t have to send the SAT score. Just send the ACT, and colleges will never know about your SAT score.

Check the website of each college you will apply to to know the requirements of each school. Most colleges allow you to send the standardized test scores you choose (in which case you can just send you better test) but a few (mostly very competitive) schools do require that all standardized testing be sent.
