I have a 33 (around a ~1490, supposedly). Is that okay for Cornell?

sure ....

Wow, this dude is blatantly blowing his own horn. lol

It's a good start

Wow, this dude is blatantly blowing his own horn. lol

Actually, I'm not. I couldn't find ACT averages on Cornell's site, so I decided to ask. Oh, and I'm not a dude...

um, Cornell has an average range of like 28-32. . . . .keep in mind that this includes people from other schools within cornell where entry might be less ACT/SAT based.

I got in to Arts and Sciences with a 30 ACT.

33 is great. . . . it will be thought of highly almost anywhere.

A 33 ACT score is very good. You shouldn't worry about it.

Wolfpiper, your a girl? Well, then I would like to formallly apologize for my asinine remarks earlier. I wish you all the best in your life endeavors and hope you choose Duke. bye bye

St.player...you were also valedictorian, which makes a big difference. Cornell is not really taking people with below 30 ACTs unless they have something very unique about them

A 33 ACT isn't around a 1490 SAT. It's more like a 1430-1440 considering the Ivies prefer the SAT's. However, these things are approximate equivalents. You might wanna take two SAT II's along with the ACT. I know its not required, but the colleges prefer it. Anyways, you're probably fine. Don't sweat it.

really? since when did the ivies perfer the sats?

They do not, but it does not hurt to take both tests and see which one you are naturally akin to, you know?

No, a 33 is around a 1460-1500:
http://www.collegeboard.com/sat/cbsenior/html/stat00f.html

More like a 1450. But whatever. This person is FINE for Cornell. I'm just saying, in one or two cases at my school students have asked representatives and they said the Ivies ever so slightly prefer the SAT. It's not going to make or break you either way.

Haz, a 33 is considered in the 99th percentile of all ACT test takers. While it may be at the low end of that top 1%, it is still considered more than 1450.

Anyway, a 33 is fine for Cornell.. the average (for last year - this year may have raised) had a 32 as the 75% mark for Cornell students.

I have heard that this year, many colleges do not know what to do with the new SAT, so they are weighing the ACT more as its main components have not changed from previous years.
