Good Art Programs in Big Schools

I am looking for good art and graphic design programs in big universities for the B Student for my niece....anyone know of any?

Try Syracuse.

Kent State?

East Carolina University

You might get some great advice on the visual arts majors forum:

[Visual Arts and Film Majors - College Confidential](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/visual-arts-film-majors/)

More info would be helpful - any specific region of the country? Big means like 15,000 or more or larger or smaller?

Illinois State

Check out Northeastern.

Boston University.

Hi -

She is looking for a broader university experience where there are sports teams, non-art clubs, and a varied social scene. In terms of size, big means anything over 5000 undergrads…she is not adverse to BIG - more than 15,000.

Hmmn here’s some universities with strong art programs to take a look at for a B student that haven’t been mentioned yet: Indiana, Kansas, Florida State, University of New Mexico, Oregon, Virginia Commonwealth. OK that spans the country, so if you elaborate on a reigon perhaps there will be more suggestions.

arizona state u.

U Cincinnati might be an option.

side note:
DS with engineering degrees and works at big university has taken a modeling class from local art association and is planning another art class from CC. He’s not interested in the academics of art but the application of art in design and engineering. He took a drawing class at his undergrad school and I figured that it cost $4000. The modeling class cost him $200. And the CC class should be minimal.

Some art/graphic design programs may require a portfolio to get into (I think UCinti is one of them).

UC’s DAAP program is very good–nationally recognized–but extremely competitive and admission is not portfolio based. Grades, class rank and test scores are basis for acceptance. I doubt many B students get in, maybe if they have extremely high test scores? But I’d this UC would be a high reach.
