Good (Audition) Safety Schools for Prospective MT Students?

@Flossy - how tall is your D?

Two daughters. Both are 5’ 2" - 5" 3". They would like to be 5’ 5" but it’s not going to happen. D1 went on an audition last week for girls 5’ 2" and under and made the cut and was asked to stay and read sides but she was one of the tallest in the room. They clearly wanted a very short girl. We cannot work on height. Sigh.

My D is 5’9" and is usually taller than 85% of the girls and 50% of the guys. I thought by 17 it would stop being a disadvantge but it hasn’t really stopped. It drives me crazy that they won’t pair a taller girl with a shorter guy when it happens EVERY DAY in real life.

put me down for a 5’9" daughter too. Yay for those 6’3" up and comers.

Fortunately for my D there have always been a few extra tall talented boys in her community theatre and school groups. But I tell her never to regret her height and to be thankful for the gifts God gave her which include a lovely voice and tall thin leggy body. She is a gorgeous girl and gets asked about modeling all the time but so far her love of MT trumps any desire to pursue that route. So who knows? Maybe there is a really tall Marius or Phantom in her future. And who says Beauty can’t be taller than Beast?!

I feel you guys here, 5’10 here. Character shoes must be the flattest of flats. Always.

My D is 4’10" – let’s hope for at least a few short guys.

There are always short guys :)

Not at CCM! My son is 6 foot and came over to me on accepted student visit day with a grin on his face and said “Mom - I’m the shortest guy in the class!”

How tall are the girls at CCM?

lol. not sure.

My D is 6’ and refuses to wear flats…so usually is 6’4"…not many roles for girls that tall…but she has learned to embrace her height and hopefully she will find her place

Have to say, have always been jealous of the tall girls

Remember - there are parts for every type.

There are NOT parts for people who don’t know their type.

4’11" is great for Spelling Bee, Charlie Brown, Secret Garden…
a 6’4" girl is brilliant for many, many shows, too! I was once cast in a Wizard of Oz where all of the munchkins were adults 5’7" and under and all of the principals were 5’11" and taller. It was odd, but it was work!
