I am a high school senior who definitely wants to be a doctor, but I don't have a 2300+ that most of these schools look for. Are there any good 6, 7,or 8 year med programs for students with around a 2100?

o yea, 1410=CR+M

Look at the state schools - programs that are not well known. Some of them give preference to in-state, others - do not. Good example is University of Toledo. It has 2 combined programs. One - Biomedical Engineering/MD, another Biology/MD. What state is your residency?

California!!!

I do not know anything about California. My quess is that programs in California might be more competitive. Some Ohio programs do not give preference to In-state, including the one I mentioned. I am not sure if you are going to survive in Ohio after California, though.

lol the only california only program i have heard of is UCSD's program, for which you are not qualified.

besides that you have the beast called USC bac/md and caltech's program. those are for anyone, though.

The Beast??

Why am I not qualified for ucsd (just out of curiosity)?

need a 2250 or 34 ACT.

california has only hard programs (USC is one of the top programs, which is why i called it the beast i guess)

any bs/md program suggestions?

I'm a physician, and have interviewed many prospective medical students and residents during my academic career.

I wouldn't let someone dissuade you from applying to any combined programs because your test scores may be too low. (They're actually OK) Scores are important, but this is medical school admissions, and MANY factors are considered.

im not dissuading anyone. there is actually an explicit requirement for UCSD, which, as i stated, is either a 2250 SAT or 34 ACT.

are there any alternative programs that I am more qualified for?

i think you would be good for penn state. their requirement was 1450 CR + M last year, but i think they incorporate writing now.

there are tons of programs youre probably qualified for, but i dont really know too many except some of the top ones.

If you considering programs outside of your state, programs at state schools (Ohio, New Jersey...) would be less competitive than penn state. Also, as a suggestion, take ACT, many people have higher comparable score in ACT than SAT. GPA and class ranking are just as important, you did not mention yours.
