good bio schools

well, im hoping that one day ill go into the medical field so i was thinking that biological sciences were a good place to start. Can you guys suggest other majors which are good prerequisites to a med school? Also, can you rank these schools from best bio program and down?

UCLA
UCSD
UCB
UCI
UCD
Stanford

thanks!

For graduate work it goes. Standford, UCB, UCSD, UCLA, UCD, then UCI however the difference between UCSD, UCLA, and UCD in Biological Sciences is very small.

On a side note Davis has just compleated a brand new Life Science lecuture hall and lab building.

A nice thing about Cal is that is close ties to UCSF. You have a good shot at doing some research during your undergrad year at uCSF if you go to Cal, this should help if you apply to med school.

thanks a lot. however, maybe i should have said im an incomfing freshman for undergraduate studies. sorry!

I realized that, sorry I wasn't clear. I showed you the graduate ranking, since I assume thats a good way to also judge the undergrad ranking.

Neuroscience, biochemistry, physics.

thanks, any more guys?

For pre-med, I think UCSD and UCI are the best. Davis is also very good, and of course UCLA and Berkeley have the big names so you'll do well there.

I disagree about UCI being the best for Pre-Med, since Davis has a much better Biology program than UCI, and a better Medical School than Irvine.

UCI students have higher MCAT scores than Davis students from a study I saw.

I have seen study that stated that Davis is a better at preparing students for medschool than UCI.

Anyone know any good bio schools in the northeast?

Well Harvard is a good Bio School since it is harvard. Also for the OP if you think you have a shot at Standford you should think about CalTech, they also have an excellent Biology program.

ha ha well yes, I think everyone knows that all those schools are great for just about anything. Anyone know of anything a little lower in admissions selectivity?

Keep in mind you can major in anything and go to med school - just need to take the requirements.

Most of the "tech" schools are pretty good for biology and other sciences. Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, MIT, etc.
