it seems not many people applied for ap com sci at my school so my school cancelled the class. LOL. im really thinking of self studying though. what are some good books for it?

Barron's .

I used Princeton Review.

I hate CS...I wouldn't recommend self-studying. I think it's something you have to do in class, though possible.

My opinion.

Check out the amazon ratings. There is this book that really stood out.

There's a book by Maria Litvin, which is supossed to be the best book. But I'd use Barrons too, since you need to learn the stuff.

^^ Thats the book I was talking about. Its called "Be Prepared for AP Computer Science exam in Java" by Maria Litvin. I am gonna give that book a try. It recieved 5 stars in amazon by a couple of users.

barrons end of story.

My D's school also cancelled AP CompSci, as well as Studio Art. She was hoping to make an art portfolio for her aps. :( She only has 3 other APs. I hope our school 'profile' (assuming they bother to have one) points out the cancellations.

Barrons got me a 5. Go get it now. Comp Sci is definitely possible to self study if you have the motivation. Its not hard at all. I know some people who self-studied it without actually coding on the computer. So go for it. Good luck

Barron's. I highlighted the book and did all the practice problems, harder than the actual test but got me a 5. I also have the Litvin's book because the school bought it for us, but it was WAY too hard. We nicknamed it "Be Scared" instead of "Be Prepared"
