Hi! I am just curious about some good books that people are reading. I don't really enjoy the classic literature we read in school, and I am asking for any good recommendations! Thanks so much!

Molecular Biology of the Gene by Watson, Losick, et al…

The Kite Runner is one of my favorites but pretty much anything by Stephen King.

i hated kite runner.
Tale of Two Cities and Jane Eyre were good

^ to each his/her own

Poisonwood Bible (best book ever)
History of the World in 10 1/2 chapters (great book, interesting)
The Prince by Machiavelli (I know this sounds absurd, but if you ever in the future become a ruler, you would wish you read this book)

Don Quixote by Cervantes, the Magic Circle series by Tamora Pierce, and the Ender’s Game series by Orson Scott Card were great.

What I usually do is head to the library, check out their Fantasy section, and choose the one with the most interesting cover. It has yet to fail me, as I’ve enjoyed every book I’ve read from there :)

Zero by Charles Seife

The Demon’s Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan. You’ll have to wait for when it comes out in June, but the book was phenomenal. Extremely witty and creative, and towards the end, very moving. Has a great twist too, if you like those.

It’s a fantasy novel by the way, but with strong themes of family/ ties between brothers.

One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich - Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

I love how a ton of people recommended classics after she said she didn’t like them.
Haruki Murakami and Andrew Sean Greer are my two favorite non-classical authors. Everything they’ve written is great to me.

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk

The Black Swan

lmao at don quixote suggestion.

Shadow puppets by orson Scott card. The entire series is good

Oh and I’ve never read it but I’ve heard that there’s a book called the Bible. It’s supposed to be pretty good. Good enough to turn people into fanatics. No offense intended. I just thought that was funny .

Also dating for dummies was pure gold. I learned some serious ****.

haha, I liked Charlie Bone series by Jenny Nimmo-- a little elementary, but it was easy on the mind during the summer.
Harry Potter- I read up only to 5 'cuz JK Rowlings took FOREVER to publish the 6th book that I lost interest
The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown- I thought that was pretty interesting.
Chicken Soup for ______ Soul
The Oath by Frank Peretti - Awesome, horrifying, scaryyyyyyyyyy
I’m not sure if it would be worse than the Stephen King books ‘cuz I never read them yet although it’s sitting in my drawers.
Ted Dekkers’ books are magnificent as welllll :D

Gah, I don’t read lately D:

if your into psychology/communication books ive always loved the Malcolm Gladwell books like “Blink”, “Tipping Point”, and “Outliers”

the autobiography of malcolm x

clive cussler books, i.e sahara. they’re exciting and great for when your in the mood just to read, and not think too much ;-)

Also, Trickster’s Choice and Trickster’s queen by Tamora Pierce.

Leon Uris books, like Exodus.

Nicholas Sparks books, if you’re in the mood for a nice romance that isn’t too over the top.

Bartimaeus Trilogy, which is very fun.

Winterdance, by Gary Paulsen.

Could name a lot more, if you need more what genre do you enjoy the most?
