Good Business Schools?

Hey guys.

I am a future major in Finance. My main interest is the stock market. Eventually I want to get into politics.

My #1 choice is the Wharton School of Business in UPenn. However, I need some safeties for my list (I'm a HS Junior).

Any suggestions? Good undergraduate schools with a great I-banking program? Thanks. =)

Pretty please?

You won't find schools with an "I-banking program" per se...major in finance, like you said.

Wharton is tops.

Add some other Ivies (even if they don't offer an undergrad business program), and major in economics.

Consider:
U Michigan - Ann Arbor
U Florida (safety if competitive for Wharton)

Besides Wharton, other good business schools:

U Michigan -- Ross
NYU -- Stern

Thanks guys!!!

I forgot this though:

I am only going to a private school (I can't afford anywhere else). Which kicks U Florida out =(. Any more suggestions?

^ A private school would be cheaper than in-state tuition at U Florida?

(Your location says Florida)

It's kind of a complicated situation: I don't qualify for federal tuiton so I'd have to pay my way through state schools. Private schools, on the other hand, can pay for me. Big private schools i.e. Stanford, would pay everything for me.

I don't have a cent for college but public schools won't pay so private schools are the only place I can go.

I just checked NYU and it looks pretty good. =) Thanks.

NYU the only one guys???

Wake Forest has a top tier business program, and would probably qualify as a safety or low match. Depending on your stats.

Or how about Notre Dame?

It has major name recognition in the business world, but is much easier to get into than the ivies.

I don't get your logic on financial aid... top private schools paying for you to go to college? are you an athlete?

I think he's referring to the fact that upper-tier privates tend to be very generous with financial aid, whereas publics usually don't cut much slack for OOS kids.

U of Indiana @ Bloomington (Honors Business program gets rave reviews). Also, check out Undergrad B-School Rankings: Interactive Table

MIT, Penn, Notre Dame, NYU, Cornell, just to name a few.

You don't need to go to an undergrad "business school," some schools like Yale, Stanford and UCLA have economics programs that many business schools find more impressive than almost every undergrad business school program.

^^^ is correct. Undergrad B-school is nice, but a solid econ and/or math background will prep you quite well for MBA programs and/or a career in business (after all, engineering is a popular topic of study for "pre-finance" people).
