What are some good clubs/organizations at Cornell to join if you are pre-med?

any that’ll give you something to talk about during your med school interviews…

Admissions is random after all.

clubs to show off to admissions or
to gain inside tips?
lol

I would think service clubs that would show that you’re serious about helping people or w/e. Clubs that show a passion for science is good too, plus just random clubs that you really like to show med schools that you actually have a personality.

maybe somethign that is related to “medicine” but not literally, such as colleges against cancer or red cross

Clubs are useless for the purposes of med school admissions. You don’t need a club to tell you to volunteer for 3 hours/month or to shadow a doctor. Finding a doctor to shadow on your own or finding a volunteer opportunity on your own is far more impressive.

Join a club if it’s something you’re interested in. But, honestly, unless you’re the president of a club, it’s not worth one of the 15 EC slots on the med school application.

Do something you’re passionate about. I totally agree with norcalguy. Med school committees don’t give two poops about “clubs” you’re in unless you have a good story behind it or you had a leadership position. Either way, clubs and ECs are mainly ways to show that you’re not a bookworm and have a life outside of school.
