Good college list for a journalist?

I am a senior in high school and as I finish my applications I am worried that I am not applying to enough schools/not applying to the right schools. I want to be a journalist/editor, so I have mainly been applying to top j-schools. However, I am also considering getting my undergrad in English first...

So far I am applying to:
University of Florida (home state)
American University
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
University of Maryland

I am ranked 3/400 with a 4.488 weighted GPA, have taken five AP tests and passed all of them, and am taking 6 this year.
My SAT is a 2070 (CR 770, M 670, W 630)
ACT: 35
Extracurriculars:
Newspaper Staff- this year I am copy editor.
Varsity Tennis team
5 honor societies, including National Honor Society, etc.
participated in NSF-funded technology program
etc...

Based on this information, how is my college list? Any other suggestions? Keep in mind that I am a Florida girl and don't want to go too far north, hence why I have refrained from Northwestern, etc.

Those are all excellent choices for journalism! I’m applying to Maryland, too :)

I think your list looks very good. GWU and Georgia might be worth a look also. Best of luck!

You definitely need to add University of Missouri!

For journalism, check out Northwestern (Medil) and Syracuse (Newhouse).
