Good college prep books for US universities

Hi everyone!

I hope all your applications are going well, I know I’m really glad to have mine over and done with. I’m wondering if anyone could help me out with some tips for some good college preparatory books? I’m hopefully going to be majoring in Chemical Engineering, and I would really like to brush up on my Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics. Since I’m an international student, I know that my studies are going to be slightly (if not greatly) different to US students, and I was hoping to bridge this gap a little at least before I start college. I was thinking of maybe getting the IB Higher Level books, since they’re pretty well-rounded. But perhaps I should look into AP? My studies have already prepared me well for college, but I’d really just like to solidify my knowledge.

Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

You should try to read complete books - non fiction like the Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, The Signal and the Noise, Germs, Guns, and Steel, Empire of Cotton…, as well as fiction. Try to increase your reading comprehension and speed , reading about one book a week.
THis will especially help since it’s more likely to be a problem than scientific/professional subjects.
If you worry about these, find old, used 1st year college textbooks in those subjects.
