Good College Recipes

Does anyone know of a website with an extensive list of fast/easy recipes for lunch/dinner that will work in a pretty standard college kitchen? I don't have a meal plan this year, and I'm pretty into eating right, so I don't want to be stuck living off cereal and fruit.

Thanks!

You can make Kraft Mac and Cheese (not Easy Mac...blech) in a microwave. One box is usually a bit too much for me so you'll be fine on how much you make.

To do this, find one of those Ziplock bowls. They're pretty cheap at the grocery store. Put 1 and 3/4 cups of water in this and dump the entire box of mac and cheese in (minus the cheese packet, of course). Heat this for five minutes. Stir it when the buzzer goes off, then go another five minutes and thirty seconds. When it's out, add 1/4 cup of milk and the cheese sauce packet. It's done.

There used to be this book about microwave cooking that said how to make everything in a microwave, even spaghetti. I think it might be out of print now; I have my mom's old book from when she got her first microwave around 1986. Also, check the magazine racks at the grocery store for those cookbooks--I've found microwave ones there sometimes.

Super easy fried chicken/beef/pork recipe.

Take a few sliced chicken breasts/thin steaks/pork chops. Take a knife or fork and poke it repeatedly on both sides (to allow the stuff to soak in). Then shake on pepper, salt, and MSG (found in any grocery store) on both sides. Let it sit for about 5-20 minutes (depending on how hungry you are at the time--longer sitting means the flavor soaks in more, but it doesn't really matter), and then fry it in a pan until fully cooked. Tastes great with ketchup or barbecue sauce--or add more salt and pepper to taste.

Though I just realized you said "eating right." Oh well, if you use a good cooking oil, it won't be too bad for you.

rachel ray has good 30 minute meal recipes taht are fairly simple. also try some of sandra lee's semihomemade recipes from the foodnetwork.com

Cereal + Milk= Unbeatable!

Go to Books-a-Million or Amazon.com. There are tons of college cookbooks out there.

Ramen.....

And bagged salad.

(msg is super bad for you)

Sandwiches! Buy a package of whole wheat/9 grain bread, and some cold cuts (turkey, ham) and sliced cheese. Great with pickles too!
That's definitely a healthy way to go, and easy to make. Other options are salad, (buy lettuce, tomatoes and a healthy dressing). Fresh fruit is always a great snack and you can buy ready made fruit salad. Another great snack: seedless grapes, cheese and crackers.

And yea, don't add MSG.
