As you might assume, I am still not sure on where to transfer for my Sophomore year. I am currently attending The University of Texas- Panamerican, and I'm not enjoying it. The main reason for me disliking is because it is a local commuter school, so I see too many people from high school, and of them are close-minded and ignorant. I also live with my parents, and instead of helping, all they do is fill me with stress. I'm currently doing CAP for UT-Austin, but I don't know if I will still make it since I had a hard time adjusting my first semester, and now have a G.P.A of 2.7 :s

I'm looking for out-of-state colleges and universities, and since I prefer a colder, rainier, and more liberal places, I think the Northeast would be perfect. I'm thinking Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Vermont, New York, etc. To be honest, I'm looking for a place that could be a replacement for Austin in case I don't make it to UT (and I'm working hard this semester so I can raise my G.P.A):/

Here are some things about me and what I'd prefer besides the ones already stated:
-Major: Psychology B.A
-Minor: Film production/studies
-I'd prefer a place that is very diverse and open-minded, city and college-wise.
-I am bisexual and atheist, so I'd like a non-religious school where I can feel comfortable being myself.
-I'm Hispanic.
-I'd like a place that is relatively good about financial aid and scholarships, given the fact that I'll have to pay out-of-state tuition.
-I would also like to take Japanese classes (I speak 4 languages), and maybe study abroad in Japan.

Could anybody suggest a good place for me to go? I feel really lost where I live and I don't want deadlines to pass and get stuck here for another semester.

Oh, I thought I had posted that. Yes, I will need lots of financial aid, being out-of-state and all. I completed my fafsa, but only for schools in Texas. Is it too late to change it and add other schools since March 2nd passed?

I’m really trying but I’m unsure about it:/ The thing is that I also want to get away form my parents and live in a liberal place so I will feel more comfortable.

Also, I have realized that I would also love to live in Portland, Oregon. Aside from too much rain, the place seems perfect for me:) Can anybody suggest colleges and universities based on the info I provided? Thank you.

^With a 2.7 GPA, Wesleyan is not within reach.

The SUNY schools have relatively low OOS tuition, but probably wouldn’t have much financial aid available for OOS transfers. Your best bet is probably your instate public schools.

Non-denominational college in the northeast with a good psychology program that also offers a film production/studies major/minor and Japanese language and literature. Sounds a lot like Clark University. But then there’s those tricky issues like finances and a sub-3.0 GPA. I agree that the instate publics probably offer your best bet but maybe Clark is worth looking into.

Thank you for the helpful info. I appreciate it a lot:) I have requested info and am ready to apply to Clark! I’m also looking at some places in Portland, OR now:)

Ithaca, and Skidmore are both are good colleges for you. I think SUNY Purchase will be a great school for you! since part of the suny system its about 20,000 a semester but you can lower it with aids, and scholars, and its a great liberal arts school thats very open minded!

Both vassar & marist are private schools you may want to consider…Vassar is liberal.Marist & vassar you may have to raise your GPA actually to get admitted, especially vassar.both in ny

I will look into those as well; thank you so much for the info:) I hope the deadlines are not soon though. I’ll check them when I get back home. Right now I’m at home getting ready to visit my high school in an effort to apply to Clark on time…the deadline is on the 1st of April:x But yes, thank you:)
