Good colleges for a future business career?

I am planning to apply to UCI, UCB, UCSD, and UCLA.
I've done a little research and UCSD and UCB seems to have a graduate business program but not really business majors for undergraduates so they might be excluded from my plans until I decide to go for my masters degree. Well UCB does but I would have ot take 2 years in prep courses before getting into that course.
I've also looked into Cal State San Deigo, San Jose, and Pomona. They seem like pretty good business schools.

Does anyone have any comments or advice or recommendations for good business schools?

I want to own a business/entrepreneur someday so I'm thinking Business Management is a good major?

sorry to double post but for some reason i cant edit the first thread
anyway i just want to add that i just found out that UCBerkeley's undergraduate business program is only 2 years so would that mean that in my first 2 years there taking the necessary courses to get into their business program that after another 2 years in the program i would recieve my bachelors for business?

you should do some research

first year usually is liberal art requirements

second year is like really basic requirements for business

third and fourth is like business classes

only bad thing about berkeley is you might not be able to major in busnes(if you dont get into Hass)
but you still can do economics(focus on financial economics)

I would say UCLA econ and UC Berk Hass are your two best options

yeah theres no real strong and real biz UC program besides haas (ucla is economics dept)
UCI just opened their business program... hopefully it will get better and bigger

There's only 4 true undergraduate business programs in the UC system:

UC Berkeley--getting into UC Berkeley is tough, but then you need to get a 3.42 GPA while there in order to be sure of getting into the business program (Haas) during your last two years. Transferring in is even tougher (3.88 GPA was the minimum during the last few years).

UC Irvine--the program only started this year--so it's too soon to know how good or bad it is. My guess it will be good, but will need some time to develop

UC Riverside--this is where most of the business students who can't get into UC Berkeley, and want to stay in the UC system, but don't want to major in Business Economics end up going. It doesn't seem to be too popular, though. There are lots of students who go here who transfer to the UCLA or UCSD or UCSB Business Econ programs and even more who transfer to USC's undergraduate business school (which is #1 or #2--essentially tied with Haas at UC Berkeley for the ranking as best undergraduate business program in the state).

UC Merced--this program is actually very good, but it gets almost no press because it is at the lowest-ranked of the UC campuses, and because the campus location in central valley (and away from the coasts) makes it a less attractive alternative for many students.

You can always apply to USC or Pepperdine or Santa Clara or the University of San Diego--or you can do like my son did and go out of state. He chose to go to Indiana University at Bloomington (tied with Cornell for 11th best business program in the country per USNWR). This program (and others like it) competes with UC Berkeley's and USC's without being as difficult to get into.

Also, it's a good "feeder" school for a program like USC's. My son tried to transfer to their business school--and would have gotten in except for two bad grades in the second semester of his sophomore year.

Good luck with your decision.

P.S. As far as the business schools at the Cal States, the best ones are (in order): Cal State SLO, Cal State Long Beach, Cal State San Bernardino, Cal State Los Angeles, and San Jose State.

Oh, forgot to mention. If you do apply out-of-state, apply early. Many of the schools I mentioned give good merit scholarship money if you apply early enough (like by Novemeber 1st). The money goes down after that.

Oh--I should also mention that most of these schools have online applications.

The best CSU business school in my opinion would be SDSU. They have a great business program and a even greater entrepreneurial program (available to undergraduates now too). As far as reputation, its great within the san diego area (even with all the stuff going on) and they have tremendous resources, clubs, and people at your availability.

I'm not familiar with any other school but I heard UCLA and UCB are very very good.

Sorry, I'm really slipping lately--San Diego State should probably be either #1 or #2 on that list of best Cal States for business. I may have to stop posting at 2 AM in the morning if I keep making mistakes like that.

you put sjsu last? damn good thing im outta there :p

wow you're stayin up this late to help me? lol i really appreciate it the advice you gave me is really helpful. i dont want to go out of state mainly because i love california
