good colleges for pre-law?

what are some good colleges for pre-law?

Any good and decent college is fine for a student who wants to go to law school.

A “pre-law” student can major in whatever they want. Good grades and a strong LSAT score is what you need to get admitted to law school.

It’s not a good idea to borrow much money for undergrad since law school is expensive.

Here’s some info from a Tier 1 law school…
**
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND**

The Law School does not require applicants to have specialized in any particular academic majors or subject areas closely related to law during their undergraduate education. **However, potential law students should choose courses that will enhance their abilities in the areas of critical thinking, oral and written expression, and logical and analytical reasoning. Applicants considering law school are encouraged to enroll in a broad range of courses that will help develop these skills.

So, it’s a good idea to have a college curriculum that includes the following courses… (these can be within a major, minor, general education, or electives.)

writing courses
critical thinking philosophy courses
deductive logic philosophy courses
maybe some business and econ classes
some science classes
some math classes
communication/speech class
literature courses

If you are looking to go to law school you should not be looking at “pre-law” majors. Most schools do not have that designation anyway. Major does not really matter for law school…it is about LSAT and GPA. Major in whatever you will do the best in. I would suggest doing something researching and writing intensive as that will allow you to see if you will like law school which is very research, writing, and reading intensive. Thus, English, History, and Political Science would be good bets. Philosophy majors also do well and score the highest average on the LSATs.

Thus, try to find the best college for your needs and then major in something you will excel at. Most schools also have some sort of Law Society and there are other opportunities especially if your school also has a law school (ie: working in the law library, etc.)
