Roosevelt
Chicago State
Loyola University
North Park University
University of Chicago
DePaul University
University of Illinois @ Chicago
Columbia University @ Chicago

out of the above selections, can anyone give me advice on which ones are considered the best when it comes to reputation/location/students/ect.?? i'd really like a campus either in downtown or a nice suburb.

If your grades aren't good enough for Northwestern, they're not good enough for University of Chicago. The two schools are about equal in caliber of students who go there- except students at Northwestern probably bathe more often.

northwestern has a lower acceptance rate, higher enrollment rate, bigger applicant pool, higher average sat's, etc...
however, uchicago is a great school as well, it's because they are not very well known outside of the midwest or in "non-academic" circles, but great school nonetheless

University of Chicago and Northwestern are generally ranked in the top 20 nationwide. Hyde Park (UChicago) neighborhood around campus is fine. It is when you get outside of it that neighborhoods become iffy. Northwestern in Evanston is on lake shore and area is nice.

University of Illinois Chicago is about a mile west of the Loop (downtown Chicago) in an area that 15 years ago was iffy but has undergone a complete turnaround since then and is now a "hot" area for businesses, restaurants and condos. High quality public college.

DePaul is also a high quality college with an excellent campus located in the Lincoln Park area which is one of the best in the city and night life is nearby everywhere. As for ideal location in a large city by a college, I do not believe there is any in the US that beat DePaul.

Loyola University is also high quality, and is on the lake shore in the Rogers Park area on the north side of Chicago. Area is OK.

Roosevelt is mainly a commuter college attended by many in the Chicago area. Columbia College (not university) is mainly for media, theater and arts. Both are in downtown Chicago. I know little about North Park. Chicago State is kind of a third tier level of the state's public universities.

North Park is a small Christian school, known mainly for it's professional programs such as nursing and business management.

You might want to look at Elmhurst College and North Central College, both located in the western suburbs. However, I question your inclination in just looking at Chicago schools. What are you searching for?
