good colleges near ski resorts

I spend most of my time snowboarding, and I wish to continue this through college. Does anyone know of a good college near a ski resort? I am looking for somewhere that I can major in a type of science or enginering. I don't think acceptance will be much of a problem for me at nearly all colleges, so a highly selective college would be nice.

Also, what about European colleges? Are they as prestigious as those in the US, and are there any good technical schools?

umm... that's a tough find. BYU is close to all the Salt Lake ski areas but unless you're mormon it may not be a good fit. I've heard that university of Idaho is near some good skiing, but i know nothing about how good of a school it is. Colorado and Colorado State aren't close to ski resorts. You might have some better options in the northeast, schools are good, but the skiing is sketchy in my opinion

UVM, Middlebury, Williams, Dartmouth.

colorado University at Boulder isn't super close, but if you want good skiing, you can go to all the big colorado mountains within 2 hours... and it is a decent school

dartmouth has it's own ski area, and discounted student tickets for the surround ski areas

how about school in california... it's not too far to driving to the sierra nevada from the coast

James Madison in VA is right near the Massanutten ski resort, which has very good slopes. UVA would only be less than an hour's drive away.

Dartmouth!

Middlebury owns ski and snowboard facilities. Read about the Middlebury College Snow Bowl at http://web.middlebury.edu/campuslife/snowbowl

Check out Sierra Nevada College- "The liberal arts college at Lake Tahoe".

You should go to either UC Davis (2 hours from Tahoe, the best place ever) or UCSB only 2 hours from Big Bear ski resort, and next to the ocean. Both very good schools!

Cornell as well

Berkeley is another one. Another thing is that the tahoe area is much better for skiing than southern california.

UBC - Whistler !!

If you are serious about snowboarding Western State in Gunnison, CO is the place for you. Crested Butte is right up the road. It is actually not a bad school.

reed owns a ski cabin on Mt Hood I think

Dartmouth is the "Winter-Wonderland" and it has its own SKI-slopes.

University of Utah

I went out to Salt Lake to ski about a month ago. Just a 30-minute drive from the city will bring you to Alta and Snowbird, two of the best mountains in the country (if not the world). Over 500" of powder a year and rated some of the best expert terrain there is. Some of the stuff out there is ridiculous. The city of Salt Lake has great scenery and the university's facilities benefited from the Olympics. I drove past the football stadium and its gorgeous.

I knew someone who worked as a ski instructor in Maine while attending one of the Lacs up there- Bates or Colby, not sure which one.

Dartmouth and Middlebury own their own slopes...not amazing, but not bad either.

I second the Lake Tahoe suggestion for snowboarding. UC Davis and University of Nevada (Reno) are close by. If you're not fond of constant winter weather, UC Davis is better. It may not be too sunny in December, but it won't get below 50 during the day.
