Good Colleges/Universities for Music Ed

<p>So, I've been doing a lot of research on this site recently. I'm a junior in high school planning on going to college as a music education major. The thing though, is that I want to go to a school with a really strong music education program as well as a good performance program, because I still love to play. Other places in the forum have said that choosing schools also depends on the person going. I'm an all state and all new england trumpet player with mostly As for grades from CT, if that helps. Any ideas?</p>

<p>One requirement we had when looking was the level of private lessons offered to music ed majors. Will you get the same faculty, and one hour lessons, or do music ed majors get 1/2 hour lessons with grad students (some of whom could be great teachers)? Are music ed majors eligible for the same performing opportunities as the performance majors? </p>

<p>At some schools, music ed majors really are treated as second class citizens.</p>

<p>Many of the basics of what to look for in a music ed program are within. Other aspects you may deem important will include location, size, potentially a program in the state you envision teaching, and to a good degree how much you can spend. Fleshing out some of these preferences may help to allow some suggestions.</p>
