I took the October ACT and did fairly well on the multiple choice sections:

Eng: 36
Math: 33
Read: 35
Sci: 34
Comp: 35 (up from 30 for the one in June)

My essay, however, scored only a 6/12 (down from 9 last time). I'm starting to worry that this will negatively affect my college apps next year, but I don't want to retake the ACT for fear of getting a lower Composite score. Will it really matter in the end?

lots of schools superscore so it should not hurt you. My kid is similar, except math was his lowest, and his composite is lower. Personally, I think you should roll with what you have. A 35 is a great composite, and where are you applying to? and what major?

I’m leaning towards the communications field at mid-range schools (U. of Michigan, American, etc.). My English and Reading Scores correlate well with that, but the Writing could really bring me down :(
