So I’d prefer a smallish school and generally close or in the midwest. I always hear about skewed rankings and all that, so what are some genuinely good engineering schools with a lot of opportunities and reputation?

Typical volunteer stuff at hospitals, food drives, and more.
Stats are the greatest, but I’ll take what I can get. Thanks.
Rose Hulman would fit your criteria of small, in the midwest, and with a solid engineering rep. Michigan Tech, Illinois Tech, and Lawrence Tech also come to mind.
Which area (presumably outside the Midwest) would be close for you? As of now, your post has been interpreted as your having indicated a distinct preference for the Midwest, which does not appear to be your intended meaning.
