good electrical engineering schools in california

I'm almost a senior now and I'm looking at some good electrical engineering schools in California. I'd prefer it to be public school. Obviously there're some good schools like Stanford, UCLA, UCB, but I don't think my GPA and SAT score is competitive enough. Also I don't know if it's good to get a masters degree for EE because i heard it doesn't make that much of a difference in terms of salary.

My weighted GPA is 4.15 - 4.2 , UW is probably 3.8 - 3.85 . currently I have 1800 SAT first try and ACT 29. I'll try to raise it to 30-31 and 2000. However, my extracurricular is very bad, but I think my personal essay will be pretty good.

For me, I like UCLA's engineering program, but I think it's a reach for me. I'm also a bit unsure about the party vibe there. I'm not really sure if I could control myself there. Also considering Cal poly SLO if I don't need a master and UCD as last option since it's close to home.

So yeah I need your input. Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section.

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (match)
University of California- Santa Barbara(match)
University of California- Davis(match)
University of California- Irvine (safety)
University of California- Santa Cruz (ultra safety)

UCLA is a reach but you might get in because of the high GPA and ACT. Don’t send the SAT score.

Honestly you can apply to all of the UCs since they’re a single application. UCLA and Berkeley are the toughest to get into, but the others are doable. The next option would be a school like SLO, or maybe one of the Cal States if that doesn’t work out.

Is there a reason you want it to be a public school? If your family doesn’t make much, you can actually get pretty decent financial aid. I’m not from CA, but both my brother and I went to college in-state. He went to a public, I went to a private, and our final tuition bill was about the same.

You’re a California resident? If so, financial aid at UCs and CSUs should be good, but use their net price calculators to check. If not, the net price calculator results won’t be very good news…

Every undergraduate UC except Merced has an ABET-accredited electrical engineering major.

CSUs that have ABET-accredited electrical engineering majors include Chico, Fresno, Fullerton, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Northridge, Pomona, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, and San Luis Obispo, though San Luis Obispo, San Jose, and Pomona are probably the most attractive ones.

Notable privates include Stanford, Caltech, USC, and Santa Clara.
