Good Engineering Programs???

I agree with racin. It depends on the State U for undergrad research. I have a son who is a Freshmen at a State U and is involved in research. He had no problem getting involved.

I think it depends on the school Some Big State U’s have specific programs set up for undergrads to get into research. Univ OF Utah had a real cool program.

If ME you mean Marine Engineering (i’m sure you don’t), anyway the best Marine Engineering school in the country is Kings Point

I don’t know, but the Webb Institute and Canoe U are both pretty good, aren’t they?

OP:
Keep in mind that you don’t need to be at a top 10 or top 30 school to get an excellent undergrad education in ME/EE. I’m sure you can obtain a fine education at UCR, SDSU, ASU, and the other schools you mentioned. Believe me, you’ll be more challenged in understanding the material as an undegrad in these majors that the profs will be in teaching the material.

UCSC may be right up your alley. An excellent engineering school [Jack Baskin School of Engineering, UC Santa Cruz](<a href=“Baskin School of Engineering – Baskin Engineering provides unique educational opportunities, world-class research with an eye to social responsibility and diversity.”>Baskin School of Engineering – Baskin Engineering provides unique educational opportunities, world-class research with an eye to social responsibility and diversity.) in a lower-ranked UC. They have an EE program, but not ME. In general, UCSC is very strong in the sciences (it always has been).

I’ll have to throw in a plug for my home state UVA and Virginia Tech. (P.S. Don’t sweat the undergraduate school too much. It’s much more important where you go to grad school.)
