Good english, history, and psych programs?

Can anybody recommend me some schools with really good english, history, or psychology departments? I'd like schools that are not one of the Ivies please, the ives league schools are basically good at everything, or so I've heard.

Northwestern has a great psych department, and the history department is a top 15 program, I believe. English is good too, or so I hear, our creative writing program is excellent though hard to get into.

schools in the northeast that are very strong in all 3 areas (i am especially familiar in psych deptartments)

UC Berkeley. UCLA. Pomona College. Stanford. I would guess Duke. Chicago might as well.

Many, many schools will be strong in these three established and/or popular fields, so much so that I would advise you find schools that interest you and then check into their programs in these fields more often than through this method. Good luck.

UCB, UCLA.

UCB . . . oh, you mean UC Berkeley!

stick to liberal art schools. the majors you're interested in are liberal art majors, therefore liberal art schools, i believe can provide the best education in what you want.

So the Ivy league and equivalent schools couldn't compare? Most majors people do are liberal arts majors.

Academic disciplines, such as languages, literature, history, philosophy, mathematics, and science, that provide information of general cultural concern: “The term ‘liberal arts’ connotes a certain elevation above utilitarian concerns. Yet liberal education is intensely useful” (George F. Will).

Many universities provide "liberal arts" educations. Count them out if you wish.

The Ivies and top LACs all fit the bill.

Johns Hopkins University

Stanford University
University of California-Berkeley
University of California-Los Angeles
University of Chicago
University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor
