Hi, I know that there are a lot of unseen factors that go into college admissions (especially for top colleges like berkeley), but I am wondering if I am on the right track for admissions to Berkeley. I am a rising junior, here are my stats: 5.24 GPA weighted, 3.93 UW, rank 30/530 (I'll probably move up to 14 or so by the end of junior year) (95s and above after freshman year, I'd be valedictorian without my freshman year grades). I especially excel at science (97 and above in all my pre ap science classes so far). I got a 200 on my PSAT, but I haven't taken any prep classes yet. I'm in academic decathlon, science UIL, math UIL, volunteer at a large hospital, NHS. I am also trying to get a research internship in an applied physics lab at UTD. My junior year schedule is: PreAP PreCalculus, AP Chem, AP Physics I, AP Art History, AP English III, AP Us History, AcDec, Pre-Ap French III. I am in texas, so out of state.

You are on the right track with GPA, possibly SAT and EC’s. Since you are out of state, do you need financial aid? You will get very little from the UC’s and can you family afford the $55,000 price tag/year is a more important consideration.

@gumbymom No, my parents can afford it. We probably won’t need any financial aid (from what they’ve told me). So you think I have a decent chance of getting in?

Once you have finished your Junior year, repost with all your STATs, so posters can give you a better idea.
I think you have a good chance.

Have any problem with UT-Austin or Texas A&M?

@catria I’m hoping for something better, UT is my safety since I have auto acceptance.
