Is a 2260 SAT1 2380 SAT2 good enough for ivies?

Adequate certainly but only slightly above average for the total applicant pool- ECs, courseload, references are all critical, along with (of course) a little bit of luck

Look at collegeboards 25th-75th percentiles for whatever schools you are interested in.

The short answer; yes. The longer answer; higher is better.

The subject tests are terrific. My personal opinion is that a 2260 (at HYP) will not be the thing that gets you rejected (but then again, the little things do add up to a tipping point eventually). They definitely would not see your score and dismiss you, though.

As Idiosyncrasy has noted, a higher score can only help. This does not mean to freak out, nor does it mean that you must try to improve your score if you are a junior.

You’re in range. So it won’t make a difference getting any higher, in my opinion. The test scores are really just used for the first culling of the pool. Later selections generally correlate well with the SAT scores, but not always.

I’ve spoken with countless admissions officers, and they always say that, though nobody is ever penalized for a high score by any stretch, they hardly glance at it. The essays and rigor really determine the success of your application, especially in the Ivy League.

^Although the student with a higher score will have a slight advantage at the start. Nevertheless, no one can rely on a perfect score to be the thing that gets them into HYP.

^and if you’re international (or enrolled in a foreign system) SATs are going to be a larger differentiating factor…

^^^ Not so sure about that; saw a stat on the admit rate to P by SAT score. 50% of perfect score applicants got in. If I remember right, between 2200 and 2300 the rate was only 15 or so…

Not entirely sure of those numbers though

just throwing in the fact (since i didn’t see anyone stating this) that numbers does not completely determine a person’s chance into ivy leagues o:

^I think pretty much everyone stated that :)

On Princeton’s site it says for the class of 2014, 22.4% were accepted with SATs of 2300-2400. However, only 9.5% with SATs of 2100-2290 were accepted.

Obviously these are broad ranges, and it is not the scores alone that get these students admitted. The student with a perfect SAT is more likely to be at the top of his class, etc.

Just thought it might be relevant. Take it for what it’s worth.

EDIT: sorry, accidentally double posted.
