So I just got back my ACT results from my first attempt and I got a 32 (so close!), 34 on english and reading and a 30 in both math and science. I have a 5.1 weighted GPA. I know that UF requires a 33 for their honors program. I feel like I can reach a 33 if I really work at it. Should I just let it be, and petition for honors, or try to reach a 33? Which one do you guys think would be easier?

What do you have to lose by working a little bit more and trying again? Don’t be lazy and leave a decision up to a gamble. Sheesh.

You are aware that finishing the first semester with straight A’s and a good essay gets you in pretty much automatically if you apply…

^Hmm…I didn’t know that.
Thanks.

I got in with a 28 ACT (I suck at science and I’m average at math, so it brought my score down. Got a 35 in Reading and a 34 in Writing). My GPA was higher than required and my SAT was really close. I got in to honors, but I think it really has to do with the quality and creativity of your essays. I know people with higher test scores than me who didn’t get in.
