I plan on applying to Brown University. I heard their scale of importance for applications was:
Very important admission factors:
- Character/Personal Qualities
- Rigor of secondary school record
- Talent/Ability
- Level of Applicant’s Interest
Important admission factors:
- Class Rank
- Application Essay
- Extracurricular Activities
- Recommendations
- Standardized Test Scores
Considered:
- Alumni Relation
- Geographical Residence
- Interview
- Racial/Ethnic Status
- State Residency
- Volunteer Work
- Work Experience
- First generation college student
I’m not so worried about academics so much as EC activities & talent/abilities
Here are my stats going into 12th grade
Above the Influence Club (4yrs)
World Cultures Club (4yrs)
Engineering Club (3yrs)
Foreign Music Club (4yrs)
SADD (Students Against Dangerous Decisions/Drunk Driving) Club (4yrs)
Academic Decathlon (3yrs)
Nursing Home Volunteer (3yrs)
Project Puzzle Piece Club (3yrs)
National Honors Society (3yrs)
Tutoring (4yrs)
Band (2yrs)
Band (Club) (4yrs)
1st Degree black belt in karate
Play piano
Play drums
Play flute
Brown pays a lot of attention to talent & ability so I’m worried about that. I’m also wondering if my EC stats are okay? I don’t have much of an artistic or athletic ability. Didn’t pursue a sport (only volleyball freshman year) & only did band for 2 years. I’m also worried because I’m not the leader of any clubs, or have participated in the student council & things like that. How much am I lacking?
