Good European IR school?

I'm going to be a senior this year and have thus started to think more seriously about colleges I hope to apply to. I hope to major in international relations and apart from the obvious Georgetown, Tufts etc., I wanted to apply to at least one European school which offers this major.

Any suggestions?

I suggest the [London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE)]( <a href=“London School of Economics - Wikipedia”>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_School_of_Economics</a>) in England. A less prestigious alternative for IR (and easier to get into) would be the [University of St. Andrews]( <a href=“University of St Andrews - Wikipedia”>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_St_Andrews</a>) in Scotland.

Thank you for the advice, I will definitely look into those schools. Any other ideas?

St. Andrews def. isn’t as prestigious as LSE, but it’s still an awesome place to go. The architecture, society, and all that combined make it a great “educational” experience.

St. Andrews has a rich history as well.

Other places, Oxford, Cambridge if you’re trying to get to the higher ups. King’s College in the UK is also really awesome.

The Ecole Normale Superieure in Paris is also pretty good I hear.

The OP asked specifically about IR majors. I believe neither Cambridge nor Oxford offer an IR major.

Edinburghs a good one as well; in the UK it’s rated about as good as St Andrews; but neither are as good as LSE. I wouldn’t apply to St Andrews though; i doubt any of these people have been but i have, i applied there last year and when i visited i decided that it’s just too small. It has no nightclubs and just a few pubs; the town is basically 3 streets with expensive shops and old castles and uni buildings. Just don’t apply there without visiting first cause the number of people who drop out after not visiting before they go to uni there is pretty high.

If you are interested in Politics and IR degree courses then Warwick is very good; it’s up there with LSE in english rankings and english employers like the uni. King’s is ok; about the same par with St Andrews and Edinburgh.

Thank you so much for your help, I truly appreciate it.

I think Kent is another of the UK’s IR-focused schools. There are other strong programs on the continent depending on your language background.

Would you say that Edinburgh’s IR program is equal to that of St. Andrews?

Also, what other continental schools are there for IR (besides Sciences Po)?

Anyone…?

I second LSE. It’s pretty good.

Do also look at [International Relations](http://www.ucl.ac.uk/prospective-students/international-students/study-abroad/overseas-students-at-ucl/sag/studying/subjects/IR)
