Good experiences in the College of Liberal Arts?

Hi, S19 will be applying to GaTech this fall and if he goes to GT he would likely major in Economics. The Global Economics and Modern Languages major looks appealing as well since he wants to be fluent in Spanish. Obviously there are so many engineering and computer science students, and that was definitely the focus when we visited the campus, so I’m wondering if he can still have a good experience at GT if he majors in Econ? Any experiences or stories to share? Would it be better for him to go somewhere else with a more traditional liberal arts curriculum? Is it possible to take classes or do a minor in the business school? S is thinking about law school in the future but that is a long way off. It would be nice for him to have some good job opportunities if he doesn’t pursue law school or wants to work for a while first.
Any input is appreciated.

My child is a 3rd year at GT. The liberal arts program at GT is strong, with tons of opportunities for students. The professors are excellent and committed to their students and their success. Tons of study abroad opportunities. My child had an excellent internship this summer and completed a minor last summer while studying abroad. We couldn’t be happier with GT.

@ticktock Thanks so much for your response. That is great to hear!

My child is a 4th year in the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts. She is majoring in International Affairs and has had a wonderful experience even serving as an ambassador for the College since her second year. She completed an LBAT in summer 2017 and a full semester abroad spring 2018. Even with a couple of minors, she’ll finish the BS in 4 years - though she did begin with 30 hours of AP credit. She is considering law school, but not certain at the moment that she’ll go in that direction. Earning a BS vs. BA definitely broadens the scope of the program. She’s very happy that she chose Georgia Tech for liberal arts.

Wow! @3567monroe Thanks for sharing your daughter’s experience. My S is also considering law school for the future and I’m happy to hear about all the opportunities, especially with regard to study abroad.
