Good Extracurricular Activities

Hi everyone, I'm new to this board but it has shown up in many of my searches so I figured I'd join. Anyway, I'm a high school sophomore and have good grades, but I was wondering about extracurricular activities. I'm not very involved with my school or the community and I've wanted to find an EC for a while that I'm passionate about.

I'm not doing this to pad my college apps -- I really want to find something that I'd enjoy. Anyone have a great EC that they truly loved doing? I've been in the band for 2 years and plan on continuing, plus I am joining the debate club, so no need to suggest those.

Greg

You’re asking us to suggest your passion?

figure out what clubs are at your school and join the ones you care about.

“You’re asking us to suggest your passion?”

No, I’m asking you what kind of activities you enjoy and I want to see if I’d be interested in them.

I’m a sophomore in high school also…hm… here are the ones that I’m involved in and enjoy:

-running (cross country and track basically define my life)
-yearbook (I love putting together the pages at the layouts, and next year I get to snap the pictures of everyone!!)
-Crossroads (a tutoring program, that tutors middle school kids from the local public middle school once a week)
-I’m thinking of joining debate club or mock trial team next year
-I take photography as my elective (it’s definitely one of my passions, but it requires a LOT of time outside class)
-umm… babysitting? haha just kidding

Hope these possibly give you some ideas!!

I second the mock trial recommendation.

Science Olympiad, Scholastic Bowl, club ultimate, IM basketball, radio host, volunteer golf coach, tutor in and out of school.
