Where are some of your favorite places to eat around campus? There are so many restaurants/fast food eateries around and I might one day be able to say I've tried most of them, but for now I usually just grab something from Durant Food Court. What are some of the hidden gems in Berkeley?

...I apologize for this being almost non-academically related. How about we just say... good food = happy mood to study! :D

JBeak, you are dead wrong. That food on Hearst near the intersection with Euclid is just the Hearst Food court. Gourmet Ghetto is pretty much anything on Shattuck Avenue north of Hearst and south of Rose

I call it the ‘North Asian Ghetto’. Cheeseboard is actually on Shattuck ave near the northside Safeway. It is a very far location if you live on the southside. They only serve vegetarian pizzas, which is fine for me, but will definitely turn some people off.

Personally, I enjoy Thai Noodle near BART station. Tasty food, lots of quantity, low price, just what you need as a college student lol…

Oh I think I went to cheeseboard with someone. I think they make it fresh or something like that or there’s somethin special about it. Yeah i didn’t like how it was veg either.

THANKS EVERYONE! I’ll definitely try Cheeseboard and these other places on northside. I’ve always had this lowkey preference to northside and the busy Shattuck area rather than southside…

Between people in my fraternity (consisting of several people with all their classes in the northside), we came up with a system:

Food court at north side is “North ghetto”

Durant Food Court is “South/asian ghetto”

As for gourmet ghetto – that unambiguously means the area around Cheeseboard. I live in that area and there’s tons of great options in the gourmet ghetto. They’re significantly classier than most places you find in the south side, cost approximately the same (with a few ultra-expensive selections, if you choose), and the food is just so much better. Main tradeoff is that it’s a 15min walk from the center of campus vs a 10min one.

I live right in the Gourmet Ghetto and yes it means the area around cheeseboard on shattuck and on the periphery. Cheeseboard is amazing, they serve one type of pizza everyday–it is absolutely amazing. It is the best pizza you will every try.

There is nothing else really in that area that I feel is worth mentioning.

Thanks again :] I’ve never been to Northside Cafe or the north side food court yet, and I’m excited to check it out! Great China sounds good, too.

How about buffalo wings? Does anyone know a place that makes good buffalo wings? I like the ones from Crossroads during Late Night, but I’d to eat some during the day for lunch…
