Are there any majors out there that will accommodate pre-med prerequisites (Biology, Chemistry, etc.) that won't send me into an abyss of unemployment if I didn't get into a program or changed my mind about pursuing medicine? I want a degree that will compliment what I want to pursue and will allow the pre-reqs to count for the major, freeing my schedule up for more electives. The only majors I can think of, at least at my school, are Biology, Behavioral Biology, Chemistry, or Neuroscience.

Thanks!

What about Materials science and engineering?

You can pretty much major in anything and still get into med school, provided that you fulfill the pre-med requirements. So perhaps you could take a look at the majors with the highest payouts. It seems that engineering majors earn the most money and offer the best job prospects after graduation. Additionally, Wall Street recruiters look for hard science majors for their analytic abilities and those are lucrative jobs. So pretty much, you could major in anything and still pursue medicine if you want.
