I personally do not like history or visual/performing arts as classes and want to get those requirements out of the way as soon as possible. I read somewhere on this site that freshman seminars are a good way to get rid of some of these requirements. If any of you have taken freshman seminars that you liked and felt was worth taking (especially in history and visual/performing arts), please let me know. I would prefer something not too difficult (I'm not very good at these subjects) and as interesting as possible. Thank you!!!

I would go to the UNC page and search for “first year seminars” they do a good job of explaining each class and you can find something you like.

I took DRAM 87H and it was an easy way to fulfill the visual/performing arts requirement.

I know they reserve spaces at each ctops for intro classes but do they also reserve spots in each first year seminar? Im going to the OOS one in August and am worried I wont get any FYS let alone the one I want

There are also FYS offered in the spring, so if you can’t get one in the fall you should be able to get one next semester.

Personally I plan to take mine in the Spring and Im with you on wanting to visual arts out of the way : ) I’ll look into this.

It’s pretty easy to get a FYS…hard to get the one you want.
