Good GPA, but misdemeanors in the way?

Hello all, I am currently a Freshman at a small 4 year university and I am looking to transfer to a larger school for next year. My GPA is currently around a 3.6 or 3.7 and I have good extra curricular activities such as intramural basketball and an on-campus job. My SAT;s were also decent at a 1610, but unfortunately, I have a misdemeanor for underage consumption of alcohol I received earlier this year (was 18+) and I also had a low GPA and class rank from high school.
I am currently filling out some applications to schools such as The U of Miami and noticed they ask about my history with receiving misdemeanors and to explain. I was wondering if my not so clean legal record would play a huge role in my acceptance chances. Thanks

I’m not sure how big of a role it’ll play, but yeah, it’ll hurt you. Your GPA, test scores, and SAT’s are average, so this will decrease your chances of getting in. Report the misdemeanor anyways, there’s nothing you can do about it. Could you still take the SAT/ACT at this point as a transfer student? I feel that higher test scores would lessen the impact of the misdemeanor.
