Good GPA??

So I’m in my last semester of high school and if everything goes as planned, I’ll probably graduate with a 3.79 GPA is that good? Up until last semester I had a 3.83 but pre-calc kicked my butt so i’m slightly worried. Let me know thanks!

It’s good depending on what you are looking for. I recommend just looking at admission stats of colleges you want to get into.

What’s your question? Are you asking if your dip of 0.04 in your GPA somehow is going to negatively affect you? Do you think the colleges that have extended offers to you will jeopardize the 4+ years of tuition/room/board that you represent to them? You’re fine – but sharpen up your analysis skills, eh? Hahaha. Congrats – you’ll be fine.

I presume those are unweighted GPA numbers, right?

@T26E4 Hahaha sorry I tend to be a bit of a worry wart! :slight_smile:

@TopTier yup, my school doesn’t offer AP or Honors classes!

I don’t see enough wisdom here on the philosophy of ‘relativity’. When someone asks if something is ‘good’, (and it happens a lot here on CC) you can’t always expect a response that includes how it might be ‘relative’. It seems that everyone is more interested in yakking about themselves (I’m not innocent of that, either).

So, I will mention three things in response to your query;

  1. Some students would consider a 3.79 to be a disaster. They would be justified in assuming that it could very well limit some of their future plans.

  2. Some students would be pretty content with a 3.79, but might feel either a little proud or a little unsettled knowing that luck or diligence could have dropped or improved it.

  3. Other students, who have far lower GPAs might consider this either bragging or, possibly, a dream come true; a key to a wonderful future.

Good for what?
