Hey, I really want to have something to do this summer to earn some extra cash. What are some really good high school jobs that would actually look good on a college application? I'm gonna try getting an EMT certification later in high school, but for now, what can I do?

If your a swimmer e a swim instructor, that's what I do. I work with kids from 3-13 and I get paid from 8.25 to 10.00 an hour. The down side is that I'm in the water for about 4 hours a day so I have really scaly skin.
Or you could be a lifeguard. That pays pretty well too...

well im working at the local mall this summer at the register and stuff. do something that u like and have fun at it. teenage jobs are very flexible b/c they understand the stress and stuff.

I'm an office assistant. :] I wish I could work with kids. :D I like to draw a lot. ^^ Maybe I should be a babysitter instead of an office assistant.

Actually I think to admissions offices, work experience looks better because it shows that you actually earned your stuff as opposed to it having been given to you. Also, people who work tend to be more mature, especailly those who work with other people.

You can make some good money tutoring if you know a certain subject well enough. I worked in a tutoring center for a while making $10/hr, but subsequently discovered I could make up to $20/hr tutoring one-on-one.

I don't even know if Kaplan has a center near where I live...the thing that even RESEMBLES Kaplan near my house is Sylvan.

I can't find a job anywhere (I don't have experience, so I don't have the guts to turn in an application for Starbucks)...do you think the College Center at my school would have job openings by any chance?

Like how do you apply for these jobs? Do you just like go in there with a resume and ask? what if you don't have job experience?

try babysitting???????.......show college your responsible to have a baby and take care of it while attending college...........just show them your an ec whore

Get a demeaning food-service job for minimum wage. I worked at a local cafeteria for 6 months. I hated it, but, ultimately, I learned a lot and matured a great deal.

I'm just kidding about the demeaning part, but I believe that it is important to have a real, elbow-grease kind of job in the beginning, not something that you set up with a college counselor.

Martha: that is so true about food-service jobs. they really make you humble and you realize the sacrifice the other older employees make working there to support their families.

i hate people dont do things for love............
I FREAKING DROVE TO THE BEACH IN THE WINTER AND WALKED FOR THE BREAST CANCER WALK......I HAVE A FAMILY WHO HAS CANCER.....DID I DO IT BECAUSE TO SHOW COLLEGE CRAP? NO.....I WALKED IN FREEZING WINTER BEACH WEATHER.......AND I WALKED ALL THREE MILES PROUDLY WITH THE OTHER TEN THOUSAND PEOPLE WHO WERE DOING IT FOR PASSION.....and im going to do breast cancer walk, lugarious disease walk, march of dimes FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE

I understand. Unfortunately EC whores seem to be the ones that look the most impressive in the eyes of admissions people and get the acceptances. Doing things with passion will help you get far in this life BestMiler1. Just don't be so angry.
