I live in Ellendale Place. From my apartment to my faculty is around 1 mile.
Is it a good idea to buy bike? Are bikes popular in USC among students?
Tram leaves every 30 min from my apartment.
If it is a good idea to buy one, where should I buy and how much should I spend for it?
Thank you. :)

You should get one. It makes getting around a lot easier, and many people have one. I recommend Lion’s Bike Shop on Vermont, I’ve received excellent service there. You could also try the bike shop in the UV. Wherever you go, make sure you get a good strong lock. You could also try buying one off craigslist.

Bikes are very popular to the point that before each class starts, campus is really congested with pedestrians/bikes/skateboards/etc. I used to live near Ellendale and I’d bike to campus, but I’d avoid those high traffic times. I’d also get to campus, park, and leave my bike in the same place all day as opposed to biking between classes.

If you bike, be careful at the intersections, such as at Jefferson/McClintock–sometimes police officers will drop by and hand out tickets to people who don’t walk their bikes.

The tram is nice but walking takes the same amount of time. It’s really great for rainy/cold/super hot days though and if you’re carrying heavy stuff.
