Good idea?

I really dont want to go to Community College, but my parents and I can't afford paying $20,000+ every year so I have to go to community college for at least a year. The only community College around here though is full of people who don't care about school/life and are just going because their parents are forcing them. I am not one of those kind of people, I care about school, and succeeding, I had around a 3.2 GPA throughout high school and would rather go to a university(UConn), but I can't afford it.

So what do you think i should do,

Go Community College for 1 year, to save $$, and take whatever credits I have earned and transfer to the University of Connecticut? Or should I go for 1.5-2 years to get my associates degree, then transfer to the University of Connecticut? Which one makes more sense?

Apply to UConn and see what financial aid package you get, firstly assuming you get in. It may be enough, it may not. I don't know your financial situation, and wouldn't ask, but consider how great of a loan you're willing to take before hand and see how much difference there is between what you can pay and what you're expected.

Best of luck :)

depends on the program you want to go into

well seems like u're going to cc anyways, see how much u hate. If it's too horrible, tramsfer right away.

going to a community college isn't that bad. and you might be surprised, like i was, to find that there are actually kids that go to them who aren't the stereotypical community college kids. and since you say you are all about succeeding, maybe you will boost your gpa up from 3.2 and find that there is are better schools than UConn that you want to go apply to. I'm not saying that UConn isn't a good school or that a 3.2 is horrible, but maybe your time at a CC would not only save you $ but help you realize other goals you may have.

I went to a cc for two years. I had a 2.2 gpa in high school and 950 on sat. After two years there I got into the business programs at the following schools: george washington, syracuse (chancellor scholar), northeastern (scholarship), loyola, fordham, and uconn (scholarship)

I had a 3.82 gpa and good work experience. I ended up choosing uconn.
